Jenny found the support to get her where she wanted to be

Jenny Ada wanted to study Software Engineering. As a mature student, she found it difficult to find the right course that would support her to get where she needed to be.

BSc Software Engineering

Today, she is graduating with a BSc Software Engineering from UWTSD’s Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. She is going on to complete her teacher training so that she can give other students the encouragement that she received.

Jenny said: “Unlike other institutions in the area, UWTSD offered me as a mature student the option to undertake a HND before commencing the third year of my BSc. This allowed me to gain my HND, get some industry experience, and then return to finish my degree

“Software Engineering is a subject both deep and wide. It is stimulating, challenging and most importantly of all creative and fun!

“I will thoroughly miss the faculty at UWTSD. Small lecture sizes have facilitated good relationships with the lecturers and other staff which would not be possible at larger institutions. The emotional support and wisdom that they have provided alongside their tuition is worth more than its weight in gold.

“After participating in STEM outreach with the University for secondary school students, I have acquired a passion for teaching computing to the next generation of knowledge workers. I will subsequently and am very excited about, undertaking a PGCE!”
