The programme provides a strong focus on skills for the workplace, that is, on the development of a valuable transferable skill set that is relevant to all workplaces.
Employability skills include business and customer awareness, problem solving, communication, research skills, application of information technology and embracing a positive attitude to learning. These skills are embedded within the programmes and are transferable, enabling students to progress to a range of career paths both while on the course or after graduating.

What you will learn
This course provides upskilling opportunities and a workplace-focused learning experience that ensures each student is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential and in turn transform the communities in which they live and work.
Due to the flexible and broad nature of the programme, graduates will be equipped to enter a range of industries and sectors including not for profit, public and private sectors.
The programme has been designed based on the requirements of industry and embeds the required employability skills for successful careers with key competencies discussed and developed throughout the course.
Learner-centred learning strategies are employed throughout the programme to ensure a balance of theory and practice that is both personalised and collaborative. Learners will gain transferable skills that use technology for learning as well as academic, professional and literacy skills involved in study at this level.
Coursework and practical tasks are set in a variety of formats. These include:
Practical in-class set exercises
Role play (e.g. mock interviews)
Presentations (e.g. of business plans)
Portfolios of work
As the programme attracts learners from a range of backgrounds, with a variety of work and personal experience, in many cases assessments provide flexibility for the student to use their background and experience to make learning relevant to their prior work experience; students will be encouraged to develop projects that are relevant to their career aspirations.
Graduate Attributes Framework
This Framework aims to develop your professional skills and competence alongside your academic subject knowledge. You’ll study up to 40 credits per level throughout your programme from the Graduate Attributes Framework.
The Graduate Attribute modules are designed to enable you to develop, and evidence, a range of career-focused skills related to your subject area. These skills include digital competency, research and project management, as well as such personal competencies as communication, creativity, self-reflection, resilience and problem-solving.
This programme attracts applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in terms of employment and formal academic qualifications.
This programme does not require applicants to possess formal qualifications; admissions assessment of the suitability of applicants is via rigorous interview and a written test.
Links with a variety of organisations within the third, public and private sector and regular guest speakers and mentoring opportunities are incorporated into both the CertHE and BA programmes to highlight the range of jobs and career routes open to the students.
Participation in the ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week Events’ and the ‘Summer Start Up Festival' plus attendance and links with Big Ideas Wales Role Model sessions enable students to speak with and learn from successful entrepreneurs.
